Dad's Diary
A few days after Kylie was born, I decided to dedicate a piece of the web page to tracking her progress.  Maybe someday, Kylie and Jakin will get a kick out of reading it.  Until then, it is pretty much for the grandparents.

- Kylie Madison Purifoy was born April 20, 1999.  (Yes...she was named after Kyle Field)

- Jakin Todd Purifoy was born Sept 10, 2003.  He didn't get an Aggie name since all the good ones were gone...

I am the worst dad ever.  I have not updated this site in months, and it appears that it is not going to come back with any regularity soon.

I guess with the little ones, there is just so much going on.  Plus, Jakin is a crazy person, and he keeps everyone busy.  There is no stopping him.  He has no fear, and he is a bully.  Jakin is also the comedian of the family it seems, and I never thought that anyone could screw around more than Kylie.  This guy is a clown.

He is as cute as can be.  He is just now getting to the stage where he is saying words.  He understands plenty of words, but is just now starting to link the spoken word with responses.

He can say Jake Todd, Momma, Da Da, Love You, and some other sounds that appear to be words...sort of.  8)

Kylie is loving school.  She is actually a really good student.  I was sure I'd be getting calls daily about her behavior, but she has been an angel.  Pretty cool.  She is really sharp, and still as loving as ever.  She likes to help out with Jakin, although he can and will whip her ass at the drop of a hat.

August 20, 2004
Ok...I admit it.  I cannot keep up anymore.  There is so much going on now days, it is impossible to stay on top of this diary.  I will keep trying when possible though.

Jakin is walking now, so LOOK OUT WORLD.  Now he can take his terror show on the road!  HA

He is actually doing really well.  He is sleeping better now that his teeth are in.  A bunch of them came in at once and it was murder for a while.  He is starting to slim down a little bit.  For a while I thought I was going to have to start a college savings account AND a grocery fund for him.

He does all the same facial expressions Kylie used to do, and I am told he makes the same gestures with his eyebrows that I do.  I don't know much about that because I can't see mine.

He has the most wonderful laugh as well.  Kylie had a great laugh when she was tiny, but Jakin has a very robust and infectious laugh.  I love it!

Kylie started Kindergarten this year and she is so excited.  You might find this hard to believe, but Kylie came home the first day with a little reminder that she needed to listen, and maybe not talk so much.  Shocker!  I started to send a note back with her for the teacher that said, "Good luck with all that!"

Kylie is growing so big now.  She is absolutely gorgeous too.  She is still really funny to.  I still think she will be the female version of Benjie.

June 20, 2004
Today is Father's Day.  I know I have not posted anything in a long time, but everything is so busy these days.  It is baseball season, so we have at least 4 games a week, and double headers on weekends.  Plus, Kylie plays once a week, and once on the weekend.  Not much time to get everything done.

Jakin is getting SO big.  I am thinking Linebacker, but he could have offensive aspirations.  It might be too early to tell.

He is at the stage now where he copies the noises we make.  It is so fun to sit and watch him mimic you.  He has always been an extremely happy little guy.  He is starting to have a little sense of humor already.  He will fake cough, or fake sleep, and then just crack up.  He will fake sleep until you "notice" him, and then he will just start laughing.

He has been pulling up on things for a couple of months now.  He hasn't made a break for it yet and tried to walk, but he will hold your hand and walk, and occasionally he will just stand by himself for a bit.

He has no fear, and will climb ANYTHING he can possibly reach, and some things he can't.  When he starts walking, it is going to be chaos around here!

Kylie finished school for the year, and she is doing very well.  She is very well behaved in school which sort of surprised me.  She is generally the center of attention around here, so I figured that wouldn't translate too well at school.  However, she seems to have a grasp on things and actually enjoys the rewards of behaving.

People are still telling us to get her IQ tested.  I am still against it because I don't see the big deal.  I am not let them put her ahead a grade or anything like that, so what is the point?  She is only 5, so I don't think it is important at this point.

April 19, 2004
Tomorrow is Kylie's Birthday and she is so excited.  She is telling everyone about her birthday party.  Aunt Melanie is getting married this weekend, so Kylie will have a party in a few weeks.  (She is also pretty excited about being part of the wedding!)  But, tomorrow, we will be bringing cupcakes to school since it is officially her birthday.

March 19, 2004
Well, it has been a while since I checked in I suppose.  Jakin is keeping us real busy.  He is feeling a little better, and he isn't spitting up as much, but he is still a handful.  Kylie was a piece of cake compared to this little guy.  He is cute as can be though.

Kylie is being a great big sister and helps out as much as you could expect.  She loves to play with him, even when he isn't really in the mood.  One thing is certain, in a few more weeks, he will be bigger than her.  He is a chunk!

Feb 19, 2004
Hello everyone.  Finally have the diary back online...sort of.  If you scroll down, you will find that there are links within the diary that do not yet work.  That is because many of the old links pointed to pictures in the image archive that are not back up yet.  Anyway, the text was the important part, and it is back up.  Like always, I will try and keep up, but with the two little ones now, five minutes to update a web page are rare.

Jakin is still having a tough time in general.  We had to stay in the hospital with him a couple of weeks ago because he had RSV, and was struggling to breath.  He is fine now, but he still has a tough time getting comfortable.

That does not change his attitude at all though.  He still eats like a horse (he is huge), and he is always smiling.  No matter how bad he feels, he still smiles right though it.  He was smiling on the way to the hospital, and he could hardly breath.

His new thing is "DA DA DA DA."  That is always fun when they learn to do that, even if they don't MEAN to say "DA DA!"  Kylie gets a kick out of it.  She is still just as attached to him as ever.

Dec 5, 2003
Kylie is getting excited about Christmas this year.  Last year, she was really into it, but I think this year she understands the "giving" part a little better.  Anyway, it should be pretty fun.

Kylie goes to Sunday School, but usually not to big church.  A few weeks back, she went to big church and had a revelation:  "I know Jesus is important, but this is BORING!"

Apparently, the only difference between Kylie and Dad, is that Dad doesn't say everything out loud.

Jakin is still struggling at night.  He spits up a helluva lot more than I remember Kylie doing it.  But, he is ALWAYS smiling.  He has a great smile.  He is starting to laugh out loud a little bit.  He is not quite belly laughing yet, but he is certainly getting there.  He is beautiful.

Oct 20, 2003
I continue to be impressed with Kylie now that Jakin is around.  He is still colicky, and he requires alot of attention.  She is really very good about all of it.  I thought for sure she would be jealous of the baby, but she doesn't seem to be too much.  She still gets tons of attention anyway, but she is very loving and helpful toward the baby.  On days when I work from home, she is my baby monitor.  She wants to help, even when you don't need it.  She even changed a diaper the other day!

She likes feeding him, unless he spits up on her, and then she is out.  She sings to him, and wants to cuddle him all the time.  When he is feeling better, she is going to just love it, because he will be much more comfortable being cuddled.

She is looking forward to Halloween and plans on being a cat this year.  She actually has a tiger costume that I think is much cooler, but she decided a long time ago to be a kitty cat.

Oct 10, 2003
Kylie
is still helping out with Jakin.  She is getting better.  The only real problem with her is that she wants to love on him constantly, and that means when he finally falls asleep as well!  But, she really seems to enjoy having the little man around.

I caught her doing this last night:

She is pretty creative and always doing something weird.

Sept 22, 2003
Kylie learned to tie her shoes!  She is so excited.  I actually spent some time last week working on that with her, but we were not getting very far.  When I went to Virginia this week, she saw Little Bill learning to tie his on TV and picked it up.  That was impressive to me.

Jakin is doing well.  He is having some trouble with his formula, and I guess we will change it.  The same thing happened with Kylie, so I guess it is not that big of a deal.  Hopefully we can fix that little problem soon.

Sept 14, 2003
I haven't decided yet how I will handle the diary now that Jakin has arrived.  I have not really kept up with the diary as much as I'd like lately, so I am not sure two would be such a good idea.  Maybe I will just continue with them both in here.

There is a new Aggie in the house.  Jakin Todd Purifoy arrived at 4:54pm Sept 10th.  8lbs 5oz.  He's a keeper.  Kylie was in the delivery room the whole time.  It happened so fast, that no one had time to get to the hospital and watch Kylie, so I drew a bunch of pictures for her to color, and she colored thru the whole thing.  She asked me a few times if Mom was alright...and then when she heard Jakin cry, she bolted up in her chair to try and see him.  When she finally got a look at him, she said, "He's purple!"

Kylie might be the most proud person in the house.  She is all fired up about feeding him, holding him, and showing him off.  She doesn't seem to worried about the attention he is getting yet, so that has been nice.  She is genuinely excited about Jakin, and loves to help out.

Last night, she was holding him, and singing to him.  It started out with real songs, and quickly turned into the Kylie Songwriting Experience.

August 17, 2003
In the spirit of helping out around the house, we caught Kylie yesterday doing the dishes.  Now if I could get the other kids to spontaneously chip in, I'd be set!

August 13, 2003
Kylie is getting excited about Little T's arrival.  She has big plans for him.  She informed me today that I needed to make sure I was working hard so that I could buy prizes for her and Jakin.

It is amazing how big she thinks she is.  It always makes me laugh when she says, "When I was little..."

June 24, 2003
Needless to say, I have not been able to keep up with this page anymore.  We have had an awfully busy summer so far with baseball, work, and with Jakin on the way, etc.  Kylie is still growing like crazy, and she still gets cuter everyday.  She is a handful these days.  She is excited about a little brother, and she is always telling me what she will do to take care of him.  She let me know she was going to do everything but change poopie diapers.  That was my job.  Thanks Kylie.

She is always drawing pictures of the family.  She LOVES to draw.  Anyway, she always includes Jakin in all her pictures.  She seems genuinely excited.  That is good.  I am sure she will be an amazing big sister.

April 20, 2003
Wow...I have really let this thing go a while without updating.  I have multiple excuses though, so I'll just pick a few.  First, I have really been struggling with this page.  The whole layout has got me crazy and I have been trying to change it all up for a while.  Secondly, I just haven't had time for it.  My connection at home is so slow, that it makes an easy task nearly impossible.  The last thing is that I cannot keep up with Kylie!  She is at the stage now where things change so fast, and new things come along so rapidly, there is no way to keep track.

This weekend was her birthday and she had a blast.  She had a little party, and she also hunted Easter Eggs before we went to church.  Gammie & B-Paw brought PawPaw up to the party, and it was the first time PawPaw has been up here.  It was nice, and Kylie loved having him at her party.  She thinks she is pretty grown up and important since people come to see her.

Last week, MaMaw and Papa stopped by the house on their way to Oklahoma and Kylie got to open some birthday presents then too.  Being so far from family means extended birthday weeks!  I am sure Kylie doesn't mind.

She opens presents really slowly, and she peels every bit of paper or tape off the gift before she will ever actually look at what it is.

This year, she wanted three things:  A play vacuum cleaner, a play mop, and a play broom.  SWEET!  Maybe I can get her to PLAY clean my office?  She got all that stuff and more.  A good time was had by all. (Mostly due to the brisket and ribs Dad cooked up!)

January 2, 2003
Kylie was alot of fun this year at Christmas.  She is old enough now to understand everything, and she really had a good time.  Every time she opened a gift, she would say, "Thank you!  Happy Holidays!"
She is a huge jokester now too.  Basically, it is her mission in life to amuse everyone around her.  She has an amazing belly-laugh that just makes you smile.

She had $20 and wanted to buy everyone a Christmas gift.  She actually picked everything out herself, and it was pretty amazing to see the thought process she used to select the gifts.  She did a really good job of reasoning out who would get what.  I was just glad to see that she took to "giving" so much.

She finally got the bike she has been telling everyone Santa would bring her.  She was really excited about that.  She got tons of educational stuff like modules for her LeapFrog, dolls, clothes for her, clothes for the dolls, Teddy Bears, and the kitchen I built her.

She has also learned that if there is a big mess or something around the house, Bubba or Bibby did it!  She will smile and say, "I don't know who did that!"  Then she says, "Maybe it was Bubba?"

Oh...she also got some new movies.  I had about three weeks vacation, so I have been home with her for a while.  I have seen Rapunzel and the Country Bears more times than any adult should ever have to admit.  She also wants to watch "Sandy" (what she calls Grease) all the time.  I guess I should just be glad we have moved on from Monsters Inc and Shrek.

December 12, 2002
Kylie was gone to Orange for about 7 days, and I was in Chicago when she came back.  That was the longest I have ever been without seeing her.  That bites.  Anyway, she has been really funny since I have been back. Yesterday, she was teaching me new stories.  She was just making stuff up left and right.  She was mixing fairy tales together and cracking herself up.

She LOVES shopping.  Great for me huh?  She wants to try everything on.  Everything is, "So cute!"

Christmas should be fun this year.  She should be old enough to really have fun with it.  I can't wait.

October 31, 2002
Well, Kylie is the bossiest trick-or-treater ever.  Thank goodness we know everyone, or I would have died.  Kylie told everyone to give her more candy.  She also sorted through it as soon as she got it and gave back the stuff she did not like.  She is getting better though.  Last year, she just walked right in to their houses and helped herself.  At least she knocks now.

October 12, 2002
Not much to report lately.  Kylie has been going to Aggie games with me so most of her latest pictures ended up on the Aggie Pictures site.  She is pretty much turned into a clown.  She just plays and pretends all day long.  She is wound up too.  She runs in circles in the living room just expending extra energy I suppose.  Everything is a game to her, and she plays hard.

Last night, we went to Forney to look at antiques and she saw a booth with Beanie Babies in it.  She saw the octopus and said, "Hey!  Look at that woppapuss!"

She is still big into Toby Keith.  He came on last night (the same show she has seen 400 times), and she got so excited.  She ran around the house telling everyone not to miss it because he was going to sing, "America boys and girls!"  Of course she sang along to all the songs.  She has a few of them completely memorized and sits by herself singing them.

September 20, 2002
Last night I went to pick Kylie up in Alto.  She has a new Reveille Doll, and the damn thing sings Hullabaloo over and over.  Lord knows I love the song, but two hours of it back to back is not so fun.

She also went to see Doctor Parker this week.  She saw him and said, "That is not Doctor Parker...that's Calvin!"

She was mad at B-Paw earlier this week as well.  As a matter of fact, she would not talk to him.  He had mentioned that she was going to be an Aggie when she grew up.  That did not sit well with Kylie.  She said, "I am ALREADY an Aggie."  So, she would not talk to him for a while until he admitted she was an Aggie now.

She is really getting more into the Aggies.  She wore her 12th Man Jersey all week.  And if you let her, she will wear her Aggie Cheerleader outfit everyday.  She knows all the words to the Aggie War Hymn now too.

Last night, she told me that when she goes to Aggie school, she will get a ring just like Daddy's.  I hope so...

September 12, 2002
Kylie is getting so big.  She gets funnier everyday too.  She LOVES to sing, do cheers, and tell stories.  She can tell some pretty funny ones.  Sometimes, we take turns.  I tell her a story, then she tells me a story.  Hers are much more entertaining than mine.

September 1, 2002
This weekend was the first Aggie Game, so Kylie and I headed down to College Station.  We had a pretty good time.  I'll have to remember not to take her into the book stores or Aggie Outfitters anymore.  She made out like a bandit this weekend with 3 new pairs of Aggie socks, a cheerleader uniform (which she wears everyday), and new hair bows. (or scruntchies, or whatever the hell they are called...)  There are some pictures on the Aggie page.

August 19, 2002
Kylie is finally wising up.  She is starting to really dig Cross Canadian Ragweed.  I am so proud.  She sings Carney Man loud and proud!  What a good little girl.

August 10, 2002
Kylie used to love that "Cornbread & Chicken" song Alan Jackson sings.  I don't know what it is called.  Anyway, that has been her favorite song since it came out.  Now she has a new favorite.  Last night I was told that she was going to, "Put a boot in my ass" because it is the American way!  She told me her favorite singer is, "Daddy, and Toby Keith."

She also uses Wal-Mart as a point of reference when talking about size.  "I love you bigger than Wal-Mart."  "That dog is bigger than Wal-Mart."  etc...

July 24, 2002
Last night, Kylie told me that we were going to put the house up for sale.  I asked her why, and she said, "Because we need a house with stairs."  Then I asked her where we would move to.  She said, "We cannot move this house.  It is stuck.  So we have to build a new one."

Aunt Tanya has stairs in her house, and Kylie is a big fan of that!  She asked me to put stairs in her room a few weeks ago.

July 4, 2002
I have been really busy for a few weeks, and have not been able to update things very often, so here is a quick entry.

Ben and Erin brought Garrett up to visit this weekend.  We had a little parade in the neighborhood for all of the kids to decorate their bikes.  Kylie rode her Barbie Harley, and started out at the front of the parade.  She was in no real hurry, so in less than half a block she was dead last.  I finally had to load her bike onto the four wheeler and let her ride with me to catch up to the rest of the kids.

Later that night, Ben and I shot fireworks.  This was the first time Kylie was not really interested.  I had bought her a bunch of those pops you throw down, and that pretty much sidetracked her for the rest of the night.

Kylie is much more comfortable in the pool now.  We went to Steve's Sunday to eat ribs, and she got into the pool and floated around on one of those noodle things.  Looks like the swimming lessons paid off.

Kylie really enjoys being around Garrett.  She is in this phase where she acts like a big girl.  Plus, she hung around with the older kids at Steve's this weekend, and that made her feel really big.

June 4, 2002
Kylie is taking swimming lessons now.  She is the youngest one in the class, but she is the boss.  She tell the instructor wait for things like, "I have to give this Band-Aid to my Grandmommy because it is not sticking anymore."

She is also too prissy to use a Port-A-Potty...those are just "gross."

She loves dancing.  That much is for sure.  She dances and giggles until she is wiped out.  Britni and Bradley have been gone all week, so she is all excited about them coming home.

While I am working on the bar, she will stop what she is doing and tell me, "You are doing a good job Daddy.  That is beautiful.  Good work."  She also has started to tell me, "Daddy, you are driving me crazy," or "Daddy, you are getting in my last nerve."  She is not even close to a teenager so I don't know what to do!

I added a few pictures from the other night.  It was dark, and I could not get them to sit still very long to get a good picture, but I caught Kylie and Katie sitting on the deck watching a fire.

May 14, 2002
Kylie is just crazy.  Sometimes she is just plain weird.  And she is always hilarious.  She is more and more like Benjie everyday.  For the past few weeks, I have been going to Home Depot almost daily.  Turns out, Kylie really likes Home Depot.  She also enjoys spending her Saturday with me working on the bar.  She always takes my level for some reason.  I think it is because it is bright orange and she likes the color.  She takes all my scraps I cut and builds things herself.  She keeps saying, "Daddy...I need you to board this."  That means she needs me to measure it for her.

May 2, 2002
I went and picked up Kylie today.  She was visiting Gammie for a few days.  Evidently she had fun, because for 45 miles I heard 27 different stories all crammed into one.  She finally settled down enough to tell them one at a time, but it was pretty funny the other way.

Her vocabulary expands so fast.  It is amazing to hear the things she says when you have not been around for a few days.  She started adding, "and that kinda stuff..." to the end of her stories.  She is also working the facial expressions much more into her communication.  She uses her eyes when she speaks.  It is really neat to see her progress so much.  For a while, she was very reactionary.  She would respond to you, or question something when you prompted her, but now she is questioning things on her own.  it is so funny to watch her study something she hasn't encountered before.  You can see her formulating her questions in her head.  I love that.

April 20, 2002
Happy Birthday Kylie!  Kylie turned three today, although she informed us that she didn't really want to.  She wants to stay two because two year olds can have pacifiers. We have not really pushed the whole pacifier issue yet.  Generally, if she doesn't see it, she doesn't want it.  But she is not ready to give it up.

April 16, 2002
Poppa and MaMaw came up to visit for a few days, and they took some pictures of Kylie in the bluebonnets.  Here are some pictures form that.

We also had another crawfish boil.  Melanie took some pictures, and there are quite a few of Kylie mixed in there.  Here are those pictures.

April 3, 2002
Kylie painted her first Easter Eggs this Easter.  She seemed to enjoy it.  She also became addicted to hunting and hiding them.  We hid them for her, and then she wanted to hide them.  SO, she put them all back in the same place we had hidden them.  Then she would say, "Find them Daddy...HERE IS ONE!"  It was pretty cute.  She got upset when she hid them because she forgot to hide one under the rocking chair.  And if you hid them in a different place than the time before, she got mad.

Also, I saw an egg that had been smudged somehow.  I asked her if she put it in her mouth.  She said no, but she had a solid blue tongue, and green dye running down her chin.  Here are the pictures.

A few nights ago, it started getting dark, and she did not approve.  She kept telling me that she wasn't ready for the sun to go down.  I don't mean that she was just sad about it...she wanted me to fix it!  Ever since then, she gets upset when the sun goes down.

March 27, 2002
Kylie informed me last night that she was going to marry me when she gets older.  She is not old enough to realize we are not from Arkansas yet.  But it was still cute, and it made my day.  For those who have asked, I will get the picture archive going again.  I have given some thought to starting a new one with new pictures only.  We will see.

Kylie is starting to get along with Katie (the new puppy) a little better.  She likes to stand at the garage door and hug her.  She has learned how to get Katie to do what she wants, so she isn't so scared of her jumping on her anymore.  Plus Kylie is getting taller now, so Katie doesn't seem so big to her now.

For some reason, Kylie wants to talk to everyone who calls the house now.  97.3647% of the phone calls at our house are for Britni, but Kylie wants to talk to everyone.  I am going to start letting her screen sales calls.

March 2, 2002
I am missing my February entries.  I don't know what happened to them, and I don't remember what I said either...Oh well.

Kylie is still inventing songs and dances.  She has really gotten into drawing too.  The older she gets, the more she seems to remind me of Benjie.  It is amazing the things she can remember as well.

One of her new things is to get you to look at the roof or the wall, and then tickle your neck when you turn your head.  She also thinks it is funny to tell you that you stink for some reason.  I guess that comes from her pre-potty trained days?

She basically runs the household now.

January 31, 2002
My digital camera is out of commission, so it has been a while since I could put any good pictures up.  I am working on some scans from some pictures Gammie took.  One of them is pretty funny.  I don't know if I mentioned it before or not, but we had to take her to the doctor a while back.  The doctor needed her to pee in a cup.  She was having none of that though.  Anyway, later that evening, she announced that she had to go to the bathroom.  She then walked into the kitchen and when we walked in to see what she was doing, she had gotten a cup from the cabinet and proceeded to , "follow doctors orders."  It was pretty funny.  Actually, the funny part was she was able to hit the cup.

She is going to start ballet and tap next week with Kendall.  That should be fun.  She loves dancing.

She was SO excited about Garrett.  When Garrett was born, we happened to be standing right out side the door.  When Garrett started crying, Kylie flipped.  She wanted to run into the room.  When she finally did get to go in, she started to cry because Garrett was crying.  Last weekend, we were over to see him.  Kylie loved to hold him.  She just kept kissing him over and over.

January 10, 2002
Well...it has been a nice break.  I have been out for a few weeks, and the holidays were really busy.  Kylie was really having a ball this year at Christmas.  She understood the whole Santa thing, and got pretty excited about him.

She had her Christmas Program with her school in December.  When we were leaving, there was an older gentleman with a white beard walking behind us.  She thought that was Santa.  She was pretty excited to see him that night.

Last night she had a Noah's Arc book when she was going to bed.  I argued with her for a little while that NOAH had the Arc...not Santa.  Oh well...she will get it.

She LOVES opening gifts.  You have to keep a good eye on her or she will open anything she gets her hands on, including gifts that belong to someone else.  Then you have to hunt down the paper to find out who it is from, and who it is for.

Kylie has the craziest hair I have ever seen.  I guess it is just like mine when I was her age, but it is funny.  She wears little pig tails on top of her head to school, and then when she gets home, she takes them out.  But her hair stays up like that.  So she looks like she has two big giant ears on her head or something.  It is pretty funny looking.  She also wakes up with the funniest hair ever.

She is getting much more coordinated now too.  This morning I watched her put her pants on by herself.  She used to sit and do it, but today she was standing on one foot and putting them on.

Kylie came out to the shooting range with us when we were in Orange.  Instead of "shooting," she says, "bamming."  She says she is going to "go bam deers and ducks with Daddy."

December 18, 2001
Kylie has graduated to a new level in her singing.  Now when she sings the Toby Keith song, she does it in a really deep voice like his.  I think that is pretty sharp of her.

She had viral pneumonia last week.  So she was not feeling too good.  We got her over that, but now it looks like she might have an ear infection.  She didn't sleep too well last night.

She has been all geeked about the Christmas tree this year.  She loves the lights on the houses.  She really has gotten into the whole thing this year.  This will be her first time to have a clue, so it should be fun.  She wants to open everything...no matter who it belongs to.  So you have to keep an eye on her in a big group or there will suddenly be an open gift in the middle of the floor that no one can identify as their own.

December 10, 2001
Kylie is doing really well on her potty training.  She is not even sleeping in diapers now.  Now that she is potty trained, she can start going to Gymnastics and Dancing classes.  This will be FUN!

Stay tuned, and I will let you know about her progress toward the 2010 Olympics.

Kylie is still being really funny.  She is really sharp too.  If there is NOTHING else going on in the room, and you engage her in a conversation, you will be amazed at the depth of her understanding.  It is really interesting.  The trick is, you have to catch her at a time when she is willing to sit and just focus on the conversation...sort of like her Daddy.

She also picked up a new song from the radio.  I am not sure who sings it, but I think it is Toby Keith.  It is that annoying "I Wanna talk about me...Wanna talk about my...Wanna talk about #1!"  I hate that song, and I am ready for her to learn something new!

Kylie started her potty training this week.  She did great for two days, then decided to take a day off it would seem.  She got right back on track the next day though.  The only drawback is that she wants to call all the grandparents and cousins every time she goes to the bathroom.

She learns new songs all the time.  She learns them off the radio, and at school.  Plus she has a couple of CD's of kids songs.  I had no idea how many kid songs existed.  I have even less of an idea that I knew most of them.

You can tell who the Daddies are at a party.  Someone will walk by a TV where the kids are, and then start humming whatever dork song is on at the time.  Then he walks outside, still humming, and six other people join in to a verse of "Where is Thumpkin?"

Remember when you were young, and you saw someone's Dad do something goofy, and then you swore you would never be that guy?  Think again...

But I will NEVER buy a minivan!

November 12, 2001
Last night, I was making dinner, and I mentioned cornbread.  Kylie heard me and started singing, "Where I come from...it's cornbread and chicken!  Where I come from...alot of front porch pickin'."  I guess she has been listening to Alan Jackson or something.  I cannot believe she remembered that.

She has also added butt shaking to her dance repertoire.

Kylie has a little cold this week, so she is not sleeping so well.  It does not slow her down much though.  She will play real hard for a little while, then just crash for a minute.  Then she gets right back after it.

October 31, 2001
The night before last, we took Kylie to her Halloween party at her school.  I could not get her to let me take her picture for some reason?  Anyway, she was certainly cute.  She carried a sandwich with her the whole time for some reason.  She would eat it occasionally, at least until I bought nachos...but she would not put it down.

Last night, we went Trick-Or-Treating with Kendall and Hunter.  Kylie started slow, but get rolling after the second house.  She would get fired up after someone gave her candy, and turn around and say, "Other house!"  That was the cue that it was time to move on.

Luckily, she fell asleep before she had a chance to pound all that sugar!  She really isn't a big candy eater anyway.  Besides, I was up late watching the World Series and I might have eaten most of her take!

Some of the pictures are in the archive.  That are not great, but it was the best I could do with them running around the whole time.

October 29, 2001
Kylie is going to be a scarecrow for Halloween.  I will make sure to get some pictures up afterwards.  She went to the store last night and got a little clown wig and nose.  There are a couple of pictures of that in the archive.

By my best estimate, I think Kylie will weight 245 pounds by Christmas.  There is no way she can eat as much as she does and not get any bigger.  It is amazing.

Kylie is becoming a good Aggie.  She knows that she needs to wear her Aggie gear on Saturday.  She Whoops and gives you a big Gig'Em!  When she plays in her little car outside, she tells me she is going to the Aggie game.  I cannot wait for her first day at A&M.  It is going to be so great.  I am going to have the biggest tailgate party in the world for the first game that season.  I will go to yell the night before, and teach...  Well, maybe I will wait until she is 6 before I start grooming her for college.

October 7, 2001
It is amazing what Kylie can accomplish in a matter of minutes.  Saturday, she was sitting down watching cartoons so I walked in my office.  I was in there for maybe 5 minutes.  It got pretty quiet so I walked into my bedroom where she was watching TV.  She had gotten into a jar of pennies, and had spread them evenly over the entire floor.  They went out the into the hall, and into the kitchen.  She stacked them on everything she could reach.  What took her 5 minutes to accomplish, took me almost 45 minutes to clean up!

She has started eating non-stop.  It reminds me of ME!  She wants something to eat all the time.  I made her toast Saturday morning, and while that was going, she wanted a honey bun.  So she ate the honey bun, then the toast, and then wanted cereal.  About an hour later, she went to the pantry and pulled down the chips.  She ate a whole bag.  Then she ate a peach.  Then she wanted candy.  I finally drew the line at the candy, but I did give her another peach!  Where does she put all that?

She loves puzzles.  She will play with the same puzzle for hours.  We also played football, and she was the Aggies.  Luckily, she has no passing game.

I was also informed several times that I do not sing "The Wheels on the Bus" properly.

September 11, 2001
My mind has been elsewhere this week, so I never got to post this. But today was Kylie's first day of school.  Well...she calls it school.  It is a day care really.  But she thinks it is school, and that is fine with me.  She was so excited.  She kept telling everyone she was going to do HOMEWORK!  When she came home, I asked her what she did, and she said, "I learned to read!"  Impressive...in just one day too!

She has also gotten on an apple kick.  She wants a freaking apple for every meal.  Oh well...I guess she got that from Daddy.  She loves fruit about as much as I do.

September 9, 2001
One thing I have noticed with Kylie now is that she is starting to repeat things she hears other people say, but she is repeating them at the right time.  For example, if you hand her something to hold, and she already has one thing, she will say, "I can't hold everything!"

She will walk up to you and feel your shirt.  Then she tells you, "I like your shirt.  Where did you get it?"  It does not matter how ugly your shirt is either.

September 4, 2001
I am a little slow on the updates again.  Sorry about that.  There has been alot of stuff going on.  Kylie went to her first Aggie game this weekend.  She is 1-0, so maybe I will have to bring her to more!  She did fine.  it was a night game, and it was raining all weekend, so I figured it would be cool enough for her.  She was really good. (She always is!)  She said she had a good time.

I know that you better not forget her "Brand new Aggie hat, or her Aggie Shirt like Daddy's!"  I bought her a little 12th Man Jersey like mine.

Kylie had a bow on the back of her hat, but she got tired of it, so she walked around all day being called a boy.  She was Whooping and giving the Gig'Em to anyone who asked as well.  She seemed to have fun.  She even had fun at the Chicken.  (Just like Dad...)

She has been really funny lately, and she is using her imagination much more each week.  She has a bunch of new faces too.  Some of the ones she showed this weekend were firsts as far as I know.  She names them now too.  She is SUCH a sweetheart too.  She met Garrison this weekend and they seemed to get along just fine.

August 20, 2001
Wow...it has been almost a MONTH since I updated this diary.  Kylie has changed alot since then.  She is still growing hair, and it is getting curly.  She is still singing and dancing too.  She knows more and more songs all the time it seems.

Kylie really likes to play in the yard, but it is just too hot.  I put her bathing suit on her and let her play in the sprinkler last week.  She was having a blast until she saw a grasshopper.  That is pretty much an ender for her...

Hopefully, it will start cooling off enough for me to take her out more on the weekends.  I really want to take her to a baseball game, but it will have to cool off quite a bit for that.

July 21, 2001
Rusty and Holly came to stay with us this weekend to pick up Amy.  Kylie LOVED that.  She loves having new people around to entertain.  She kept calling Holly "Hottie."

Kylie is really advancing now.  She is reaching that independent stage where she wants to do everything herself.  She will try and try and try something until you finally just have to do it for her.  She doesn't like it though.  She is convinced she can do whatever she wants, and she doesn't need help to do it.

I have long thought she would be like Uncle Benjie.  It is pretty much a done deal now.  She has an amazing sense of humor, and certainly loves attention.  She is a complete ham.  She is really funny too.  I am amazed at the things she finds humorous.  I am even more amazed at her ability to BE funny.  It is not just "cute" funny like little kids are...but really FUNNY.

She is more beautiful everyday as well.  Her personality is so impressive, and it makes her so much prettier every time I see her.  I am the luckiest guy on the planet for having her.  It makes me feel so good when other people recognize her abilities, or her sense of humor, and obviously her beauty.  I am so proud of her!

Last night, I walked by her highchair and took one of her chips.  She said, "Hey Mister!"  Well...excuse me little one.  She got that from Daddy.  Don't mess with my plate.  If I want you to have something off it, I will tell you!  =)

July 14, 2001
I was in Dayton again this week for the company Summer Conference...but Kylie left me some sweet voice mail messages on my cell.  So that helped make the week easier.

If you feel like answering a bunch of questions, come on over to the house one night and you can answer "What's that?" until your head spins.

Kylie is at the "Watch this!" stage of life.  She will ask you to watch her, then start whatever she is doing, and then stop real quick to make sure you are still watching.  And it doesn't matter how many outs there are in the ninth of a Rangers game with A-Rod batting..."Watch This Daddy" takes priority.

If you do know if the Rangers held on to beat San Francisco last night, email me. =)

She is staying with Gammie this week, so I will not get to see her for a few more days.

July 1, 2001
This weekend we were in Orange for Papa's wedding.  It was nice.  Luckily, it was not a real long ceremony, and Kylie made it all the way through.  She was very sweet the whole time.  That is no surprise...she is always sweet!

She entertained the family with all of her songs.  She spent most of her time chasing the cat around.  She clearly loves animals.

She was being pretty funny in the car this weekend.  She makes jokes now.  She knows she is being funny.  She also started using your middle name when she is "scolding" you for something.  Kylie wanted brad to stop playing with a ball this weekend and told him, "Bradley Keith Doty...stop that."

Everyone is now a "Silly Goose."  I think she got that from my buddy Kevin.  He says that to his kids all the time, and now Kylie picked it up.

June 18, 2001
I was out all last week at a company conference.  It is amazing how much they change in such a short time.  She has more hair!  She also started using possessives.  I am now, "My Daddy!"  I like that.

She used to play with my hats all the time, but now she wants to wear them.  She also decided that it is cool to wear my shirts to bed.  Her whole body can go through the neck, but she likes it.

She is singing more these days too.  She has started closing her eyes, and shaking her head.  I guess she is watching too much CMT or something.  Her favorite song right now seems to be, "Quinkle Quinkle, wittle star."  Not sure where she gets that.  I swear she used to be able to say, "twinkle."

June 4, 2001
The kids are gone to Church Camp, so Kylie is the only one around the house.  She has been having to play by herself a little more than usual.  I love watching her play.  She is so funny when she doesn't know you are looking.  She puts her baby doll and her stuffed puppy in her little car, grabs her purse and takes them to Wal-Mart.  Last night she was playing and she jumped out of the car and said, "Hi Daddy.  I am home."  I asked her where she had been and she said she went to Bubba's baseball game.  She also let me know Bubba pitched and they won.

The whole make-believe concept is setting in for her now.  I am amazed at the things she can remember.  She incorporates EVERYTHING she sees or hears into her little games, songs...etc.

May 22, 2001
I am still having update problems here.  Looks like something has changed on the server.  Anyway, things are pretty busy around the house these days.  Kylie has boundless energy now.  She gets fired up and just runs around like crazy singing, jumping, trying to scare people.  Her vocabulary is great now.  She has started using adjectives in her sentences.

She thinks she is on a spy mission or something because she always comes to tell me what someone else is doing.  "Daddy, Bubba is sitting in your chair."  "Daddy, BiBi is eating macaroni.

She is playing much better with other little kids these days.  Kendall came down the other night, and they usually argue over one toy or something...but this week they played great for hours.  They took turns fixing each others hair.  Then Kylie played the piano while Kendall played with the saxophone.  They had a little jam session.  They were dancing and singing.  It was pretty cute.

She also likes to get in her toy car and "go to Wal-Mart."  She is finally growing some hair!

May 1, 2001
Well, I am not sure what happened, but some of my archives got blown away.  I did some rebuilding on my PC, and I guess I blew something up.  Anyway, Kylie had a great little party.  We had lots of friends and their kids in town for the party.  Thanks to everyone who was able to come up!

Kylie is really developing a great sense of humor.  She has started pulling jokes on people now.  She likes to hide stuff from you (in the middle of the floor) and you have to find it.  She also runs up and starts tickling or scaring people now.  She really thinks she is funny.  Actually she is quite funny.

She suddenly started a little growth spurt as well.  She is getting taller.

April 18, 2001
We are busy getting ready for the party this weekend.  I really think she is going to have fun this year.  She knows her birthday is coming, and she seems to understand quite a bit about the idea.

I have a few pictures of Kylie from Easter in the archive.

April 11, 2001
Kylie has a little cough this week, so she has been having some trouble sleeping.  I really hope she does not have my asthma, but sometimes at night she sounds like she might.

Her birthday party is coming up next week, so everyone is getting ready for that.

April 9, 2001
Kylie is making more complex sentences now too.  She has started putting in two subjects in some of them.  She is speaking more clearly now too.  She used to talk on the phone, but mainly just said whatever you told her too.  But she is really talking to people now.   Every so often, she will just ask one of us to call someone for her so she can talk.  And she knows if she is talking to MawMaw, that PawPaw must be around somewhere too.  She is very aware of who belongs with who in the family.

March 30, 2001
Kylie loves books.  She has gotten so familiar with them that she will catch you if you try to skip a page.  So no more cheating...

She is still on her singing kick.  She sings all the time.  She recently started putting all the songs she knows into one big song.  That turns out pretty funny.

March 26, 2001
"Please?"  That is her favorite new word.  Actually, it is more like, "Puuuulllleeeeaseeeee!"  She loves getting her nails painted now, and she will play like she is putting polish on by herself.  She is getting to the point where she can pretend and entertain herself for much longer than she used to.  She is getting more creative all the time.

For some reason, she also started waling on her tippie-toes  all the time.  She rarely "walks" anywhere.  She usually runs wherever she goes.

March 17, 2001
Kylie is working on new facial expressions.  She has started using really strong facial expressions when she talks now.  I am not sure what triggered that, but it is pretty funny.  Her story-telling skills are getting better too.  She loves to tell you stories about something that happened during her day.

March 13, 2001
"What's that?"  "What's that?"  "What's that?"  "What's that?"  "What's that?"

That is the most popular question around the house these days.  You answer her and she just says, "Oh..."  The second most popular question is, "Whatcha doin?"

Kylie is staying with Gammie this week.  We should have some new pictures soon.

March 10, 2001
I don't think Kylie is going to be shy.  She loves to show off.  She rarely gets shy, and even when she does, it doesn't last very long.  She is always working on her dancing, singing, and running.  She spends most of her time dancing and jumping.  She plays with her toys and her baby dolls a little, but mostly dances.  Her birthday is coming up soon...I am looking forward to that.  I think she is getting to the point where she understands stuff like that.

March 5, 2001
Kylie got her first real knot on her head this week.  She tripped and hit her head on the wall.  She really didn't seem to be hurt at first, but then she got a knot like an egg on her head.  That was scary, but she was fine.  Then about an hour later, she tripped and hit her chin on the coffee table.  What a bad day!

She is just fine though.  The real issue is that she suddenly decided that "running fast" is about the neatest thing in the world.

February 26, 2001
We were out of town last week snow skiing, so Poppa and Ma-Maw did the babysitting duties.  Poppa took lots of nice pictures so take a look.

Kylie still asks, "Where is so & so?" even when they are right there.  She acts like she doesn't see them.

She also says "Thank you!" when you give her something she is looking for.  She is leaning to say, "Please" as well.

February 6, 2001
Kylie has declared herself boss of the house.  She is at the stage where she picks up EVERYTHING you say and repeats it.  This will be a scary time for me.  8)

She is starting to ask "What's that?" about everything too.  I hear that lasts for quite a while.  She still dances and runs all over the house.  She will take of running and then want you to watch her, "Run fast!"

February 1, 2001
Kylie HATES having her diapers changed, but when she needs it, she will go get all the stuff for you.  She gets a diaper, the wipes, and the powder.  And you cannot forget the powder.  That is her favorite part.  She wants "power" (as she calls it, on her tummy, legs, hands, arms...

January 29, 2001
Last week, I was out of town and Kylie got on the phone to tell me she went to the potty by herself.  She was extremely excited about that.  I think everyone was happy about that one!

January 27, 2001
Now Kylie is saying "I love you" all the time.  She will ask for a hug, and then tell you she loves you.  She likes to talk on the phone as much as ever, and tells everyone that she loves them.  If you tell her you love her, she says, "I love you too!" and then wants a hug.

January 25, 2001
Kylie can count to 10 now.  she usually will just alternate every other number with you, but every once in a while while she is playing, she will do the whole thing by herself.

January 22, 2001
Kylie is still on her singing kick.  She is getting better too.  She sings along with ANY song.  If she has never heard the song, she just mumbles though it, but when it gets to a part she remembers, she will blurt out the words clearly.  She is so proud of herself when she does!  It is really cute.

January 16, 2001
Kylie loves to sing and dance.  She is making up her own songs these days, and they are pretty cute.  Mostly, it is the same song, with a different family member name thrown in the mix.  I think that is pretty clever.

She also made up what she calls a "routine."  It is a little song and dance thing she worked up.  It is pretty funny.  I am not exactly sure what she is saying through most of it, but it is the same every time.

The other night, I told her I saw a doggie in her ear.  Then a cat...etc.  So last night, while I was laying down, she started looking in my ear and telling me she saw a kitty, a bunny...etc.  She is really getting more creative now.  She has learned to use her imagination much more.  Sometimes when she plays by herself, she acts like she is playing with the other little kids at her babysitter.

January 12, 2001
Last night Kylie was taking a bath and she turned on the jets in the tub.  Up until now, that has really scared her, but for some reason she wanted to play with it last night.  Anyway, it makes tons of bubbles so she was having a ball.  She was so excited.   When we were finally able to talk her into getting out, she told the bubbles, "Bye-Bye," and watched the tub drain.

January 8, 2001
Wow...it has been very busy around the house since Christmas, so there has not been an update in a while.  First, I will just let you know that Kylie is changing SO much now.  Her personality gets stronger every day.  She plays more imaginative games, and she is getting much more creative.  Her words are getting clearer, and her sentences are getting longer.  She can put 3 or 4 subjects in her sentences now.

Kylie is becoming very affectionate these days.  She is giving away hugs and kisses much more frequently than she used to.

December 28, 2000
Well, Christmas has finally come and gone.  We have had a great Christmas, and I hope everyone else did as well.  Kylie enjoyed everything much more than I thought she would.  She still did not quite get all of it, but she did enjoy opening gifts.  It didn't matter who the gift belonged to either.  She just liked to open!

She now has tons of stuff to play with, as if she didn't already.  But now she has a big playhouse, a really cool kitchen, and all sorts of pots and pans, play food, dishes...etc.  She is having a ball with that stuff.  Check the archive for pictures.

December 21, 2000
Updates have been slow because I have been sick...and so has everyone else in our home.  Yuck...

Anyway, Kylie has really increased her vocabulary lately.  She seems to know MANY more words than we think.  She throws out a new one everyday.  She is starting to sing all the time now.  She also skips everywhere she goes.  She is always so happy!

Her sentences are getting much more complex now as well.  She can put two or more subjects in a sentence now.  The funniest thing about her talking is that she picks up slang so easily. She says "Come 'ere", and "Aw man!"  She sounds as redneck as her daddy...

She is getting ready for Christmas.  Last weekend we had Christmas in Orange, and she was having a ball tearing open her gifts.  She still would just assume play with the wrapping or the box, but she is having fun.

December 12, 2000
Yesterday Kylie amazed us.  She knows some colors already.  No one has ever taught her that, but she can identify blue, green, white, and who knows what else.  I guess she is getting it off Blue's Clues or something?

Anyway, it took us by surprise.  Her latest thing is singing.  She just sings constantly now.  She also still like to play with clothes.  She will put on ALL her clothes at once.

December 5, 2000
We are still busy trying to get all the lights and decorations up.  The problem we seem to have is that everything on the bottom two feet of the tree keep coming up missing.  Hmmmm...I wonder why?

Kylie was singing Happy Birth Day to me this week.  She just says, "Happy" and lip syncs the rest...cute.

November 28, 2000
What a busy week!  We had to run to Orange on Turkey Day so we could do Christmas at Maw Maw's.  Kylie had a ball.  She is ALMOST getting it.  Mostly she just likes to open stuff because it gives her a reason to tear some paper.  She wants to play with the thing she just opened, and doesn't really want to move on to the next gift, but she seems to have fun.

Uncle Ben helped me with some lights yesterday, and Kylie loved them.  The whole neighborhood has their lights up, and she just stands in the front yard saying, "Lights!"

We will probably take her to look at lights at some point.  I didn't realize she would be so excited about them.

She is making nice little sentences now.  She is just full throttle.  If you watch her, it is amazing.  She spends 100% of time studying things or playing some game.  It is amazing to watch her figure stuff out.  It is surprising how much she picks things up.  She can watch you do something once, and even though you didn't think she was paying attention, in 10 minutes you will turn around and she will be doing it herself.

November 20, 2000
Kylie can finally Whoop!  And she says Gig'Em, but she cannot quite get the hand signal down.  Oh well...at least she is trying!

November 17, 2000
Happy B-Day Paw Paw!

Kylie likes to play with the phones still.  But now she plays like she is either talking to Maw-Maw, Paw-Paw,  or PaPa.

November 16, 2000
Happy B-Day Ben!

Kylie knows how to use the remote control now.  She wanted to play last night, and Kim told her to go watch TV.  She was gone for a few minutes, then came back and asked, "Mote?"  She assumed she could not watch the TV without it.

Her answer to everything is either, "No" or "K."  She still wants to play with shoes all the time too.  I came in last night and all of my shoes were in the hall.

November 13, 2000
"What's this?"  I thought I didn't have to answer that question six billion times a day until Kylie was four...wrong.  That is her new thing.  Also, if you take something from her, she will remember, and then the next time you out it down, she will go get it, and bring it to you again.  Then she looks at you like, "If seemed to want it so bad when I had it..."

Benjie is the latest victim of the "Kylie knows my name" game.  That means that every two seconds for the entire time he is at the house, she is calling his name.

Kylie was watching the OU game with us and I think all my jumping off the couch scared her.  She had her Aggie gear on though.  She learned to whoop, and swing her towel.

November 8, 2000
Kylie now claims everything is, "Cool..."  She also has learned to say, "Awwww Man..."

When you try to get her attention, and you say, "Kylie.  Look at me," she will lean over and put her face right in your very sarcastically.  It is pretty cute.  She also says, "What?" when you call her now.

She can say the names of all the other kids at her day care now too.

November 5, 2000
We went to Orange this weekend and Kylie got to show off for everyone.  She was being so funny, and she was EXTRA sweet with MawMaw and PawPaw this weekend.  She played in the sand, got to play with the cows, and eat some good Mexican food!

She has leaned to make cat noises, and act like a bird.  She will jump up and scream, "FLY!"  Then she starts flapping her arms and running around.  She has taken the eye cutting to another level.  She now uses that to emphasize her moods.

She can say everyone's name name now.  If you chase her, she will take off running for someone's arms, and start yelling, "hurry!"  She is still singing the Barney song, and now he hums when no one is paying any attention to her.

I still do not have the Halloween pictures loaded, but I am working on them.

October 29, 2000
The word of the day is PLEASE.  She has learned to make a cute face and say please to get WHATEVER she wants.  Kylie has perfected the pout too.  She shrugs her shoulders and rolls her eyes.  Actually, she will look at you out of the corner of her eye when she knows you are telling her to stop something.  It is almost like she is saying, "I am a baby, and I have no idea what you are saying."

October 24, 2000
Kylie was singing the Barney Song last night.  "I love you, You love me..."  It is more like "love me...love you" when she does it, but it is the thought that counts.

October 20, 2000
Kylie used to love to put on shoes.  If you take your shoes off, she will find them and put them on.  Her new thing is wearing my hats.  She used to play with them, but she has just recently started to wear them.  She still does the shoe thing.

She also has recently decided to wear ALL her clothes.  I mean at the same time.  She will put something on, and then bring you something else to put on her.  She just keeps piling it on until she is wearing 4 or 5 different things on top of each other.  She will not let you take them off either.  It is pretty funny.  It reminds me of Big Daddy, when Adam Sandler let the kid wear whatever he wanted.

October 17, 2000
Kylie finally learned to say Benjie this week.  The funny thing is, she will give something or someone a name if she cannot say the real name.  She is hard-headed I think.  8)

I put some new pictures in the archive.

October 13, 2000
Kylie is working on some new faces.  She is really funny, and she knows it.  She is getting better with her new vocabulary.  And she still insists on you getting up.  You are not allowed to sit or lay down when she is around.  You must go hunt bugs with her.

October 8, 2000
Yesterday, Kylie spent the day with me, and she was going crazy.  She was full throttle all day.  She was being really funny.  She is trying to say whole sentences, but only a couple of words at a time make any sense.  She also is making new faces and seems to amuse herself by making them up.  She will just sit quietly for a few minutes making some crazy face, and then start cracking up.

I put some new pictures in the archive.

October 2, 2000
Kylie is learning a new word a day now it seems.  She throws them out when you least expect it too.  She has been getting into this silly little dancing mood that is pretty cute.  She is trying to get her head in sync with her body when she dances now.  It is funny to watch because she just looks like she loses control all of the sudden.

September 29, 2000
Kylie has started telling me to "Get up!"  She will not let me sit down...anywhere...anytime.  I don't know why.  She is putting more words together now.  She says. "I'll get you!" when she tickles you now.

September 26, 2000
Wow...it has been a busy few days.  Kylie has really been progressing with her language.  It is amazing.  She is starting to cut her eyes at you when you tell her something.  She has an amazing sense of humor, and I swear she just wants to play and laugh all the time.

She learned to do a flip last night.  She always used to come up and try to get you to flip her, but now she is doing it by herself.

The amazing thing to me is that she will do something, then realize it made you laugh, and then continue to do it.  She really seems to WANT to make you laugh.  I think she may become a little bitty "Uncle Ben."

September 18, 2000
This weekend was the Cotton Festival in Crandall.  Kylie was in the Cotton Bowl Pageant.  She won Most Photogenic.  Then she ate her trophy.  Actually, she was on stage with all the other babies, and most were either crying or running around.  Kylie just jammed her trophy in her mouth and went to town.  After she came off stage, she had little gold flakes all over her mouth.  It was cute.  Anyway, I should have some pictures soon.

September 15, 2000
Last night Kylie had rehearsal for the Cotton Bowl Pageant.  She didn't seem to think it was all that fun.  To get to the stage, you have to go through a dark little hallway, and she was not thrilled about that.  Anyway, we will see how she does tomorrow.  I will probably end up holding her hand and walking out on the stage with her.  I hope I do not win...it would not be fair to the little kids.  So if you are there, please refrain from voting for me.

September 11, 2000
Kylie is much better than last week.  She has a new babysitter too.  So far, she seems happy enough with her.

This weekend Kylie will do her little Cotton Bowl Pageant.  We will see how that goes.

Mom bought me one of those fish that sings a few weeks ago, and it has become one of Kylie's favorite toys.  She pushes the button and dances to the music.  She will sit there and do it over and over.  Sunday morning she woke us up by turning on the TV in our room, and then starting the singing fish.  She sat there restarting the fish, and changing channels on the TV until I got out of bed...then she laughed.

September 6, 2000
Kylie developed a little upper respiratory infection this weekend.  She is feeling a little better now.

Her newest thing is that she will say, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy..." until I actually look right at her.  If she cannot see me, she will assume I cannot hear her.  Pretty cute.  She also gets louder each time she says it.  Heaven forbid you try to talk on the phone and cannot answer her...

I stayed at home with her yesterday because I had to take her to the doctor.  While I worked, she sat and watched cartoons most of the day.  Uncle Ben came over so she had someone to show off for.

August 28, 2000
Kylie has started putting words together in little two-word phrases.  And she has mastered the "NO NO!"  Last night, she was playing with some paper plates, and I stepped on one.  She put one hand on her hip, pointed at me, and said, "No No No No No Daddy!"

She also has a new baby doll, and she says, "My baby."  She pushes her around in the stroller.  She puts her to bed.  And she swings it...which by the way can bloody your nose if you are not paying attention...just a warning.

August 22, 2000
Kylie went and got her own pillow and plopped it down in front of the television to watch Blue's Clues.  She watched for a pretty good while.  That is pretty cool.  That means it will not be much longer and we can pop in a video tape and keep her occupied for hours.

August 18, 2000
Kylie is definitely feeling better.  She was having a ball last night.  She was walking around, faking falls, dancing, jabbering, playing chase, and just generally hamming it up.  It is so funny to watch her entertain herself.

August 16, 2000
Kylie wasn't feeling too good this week so she went to the doctor last night.  She has strep.  Yuck.

August 10, 2000
Kylie now knows how to take things to the garbage can.  She can also open all the doors in the house.

Kylie is getting really good at pretending too.  Gammie gave her a little dinner set and she will act like she is drinking from the cups.  Last night, she was walking around with an empty box of cookies and acting like she was eating them.  She would reach in, pull her hand out, and start chewing.  Then she would offer you one, which of course you had to eat.

She has started to associate objects and people in her mind.  She knows the remote control is for Daddy.  When she sees a baseball game or someone on a motorcycle, she immediately starts chanting, "Bubba, Bubba."

August 8, 2000
Kylie's vocabulary is RAPIDLY expanding.  Everyday she has new words now.  She has moved from "ME ME ME" to "HOLD ME, HOLD ME!"  She learned, "Duck, "Bear," and "Goose" last night.

She also fake snores now.  That is pretty cool.  She says, "Night Night," then lays her head down and does a fake snore.  It is hilarious.

She used to come up to you and stick her ear in your face so you could tell her a secret.  Now she tells you a secret back.  That is SO cute.  She just whispers some babble in your ear.  It is pretty funny when you are not expecting it.

August 6, 2000
We had another baby guest this weekend.  Hunter Linscomb was over at the house for a cookout.  I took a few quick pictures of Hunter making cute faces...of course I missed all the good shots.

Kylie now refers to any animal she does not recognize at GA-GA.  (that means dog to her)  She also knows the cow says, "Moooo."  That is pretty cute.

Kylie is starting to refer to things as, "Mine."  It seems that we have developed a struggle over the ownership of the remote.

August 2, 2000
Kylie had some visitors this weekend.  Emily and Angela came to play.  It was neat having the three babies around.  Kylie is the oldest of the three so she calls the others "baby."  That is kind of funny coming from a 16 month old.

July 26, 2000
Kylie got food all over her the other night, so we had to set her in the sink for a minute to wash her hands.  She got thirsty.

July 24, 2000
We had another visit from Crazy Babbling Child last night.  She was going crazy!  She was repeating EVERYTHING.  She went through her whole list of tricks and words.  It was really funny.  She just got louder and louder and funnier and funnier.  She was really going.  Those times are really fun.  You have to enjoy them, because she will just quit all of the sudden and start concentrating on some toy or something, and stop talking back to you.

July 18, 2000
Papa came to stay with us this weekend.  Kylie showed off the whole time.  We have some new pictures from this weekend.
July 14, 2000
I added a few pictures of Kylie from the reunion today...

July 11, 2000
Last weekend was the Pickering Family Reunion.  Kylie got to meet a bunch of new people.  She had a ball.

She has recently learned a few new words.  she says, "Sorry" now.  And she has been saying, "Ouch" a bunch.  She will sit and pinch her toes and say, "Ouch!"  Weirdo...

She also has decided to say ,"Ouch" when she is mad.  She says that when she gets in the car seat now.

July 5, 2000
Kylie watched fireworks this weekend.  We also went antique shopping in Forney, and she was really good.  B-Paw and Gammie were with us, so she had someone to play with her most of the time.

The running in circles and jabbering never stops now.  She is wound up.  It is funny.  She is getting closer to real words.  She also learned to open all our doors, so now we have to keep the dead bolt on.  She doesn't really go out of the door, she just opens and shuts them and laughs hysterically.

There are some new pictures today.

June 28, 2000
I am not sure what got into Kylie last night, but she was going nuts.  She talked and talked until bed-time.  She was running around, going in circles, opening and closing doors, and cracking herself up.

June 26, 2000
Well, it did not take long for me to run out of space.  As soon as I bought my new digital camera, I knew this was going to happen.  So, you can assume the format will change shortly.

June 25, 2000
Kylie had her first piece of gum this weekend.  Believe it or not, she never swallowed it (like Dad does).  She walked around chewing it for a while.  It was pretty cute.

She also went swimming this weekend at Britni's birthday party.  She loves the water.

She has started saying a few more things now too.  She can say "shoes, kitty, doggy, uh-oh" and her latest is "bite!"  That means let me have the rest of whatever it is you are eating.

Kylie has also decided that any pair of shoes left unattended must belong to her.

Here are a few new pictures.

June 18, 2000
Kylie is still babbling more every day.  She was with Gammie last week, so there were no updates.

Kylie brought me Fathers Day breakfast in bed, and then helped me eat it.  Actually, she ate it...but it was cute.

I bought a new digital camera, so I am sure I will over run this site with pictures again.  I am going to have to do a new layout to accommodate this habit!

She was being pretty cute last night while playing with a baby doll.  You can see those pictures on the More Photos page.

June 6, 2000
I am not sure what she is saying, but Kylie has started talking almost nonstop.  She sometimes gets a very serious look on her face when she is talking to you.

Bradley taught her to "make pretty eyes" yesterday.  She will just bat her eyes at you and get this really sly look on her face.

June 1, 2000
Kylie is a hug monster now.  She is giving more hugs.  She still does it on her own time though.  It is hard to get one by request!  We fell asleep the other day on the couch, and she woke up, crawled up, and gave me a big hug...then fell back to sleep.  A little while later, she woke up again and gave me a kiss, and then went right back to sleep.

May 23, 2000
Kylie played in the rain last week for the first time.  She seemed to be amazed by that.  She is giving big hugs now.  She will still only gives kisses when she is in the mood though.  You cannot beg one out of her.  But when she decides to give them, everyone better get ready because she won't stop.  I put a few more pictures up today.

May 18, 2000
Kylie has a little virus.  It is not a huge deal, but it looked like measles at first.  That would be no fun.  She is still being real funny though.  It doesn't seem to bother her, but then again, not much does.

May 12, 2000
Kylie had a little ear infection this week, but she is doing better now.  I posted some new pictures, so go take a look.  Some are birthday pictures (I still have not developed my own), and some are a visit to Gammie's.

May 8, 2000
Kylie is saying a few words now.  She says "Kitty kitty" now when the neighbors cat comes by.  She also says "Baby..."

She learned to tickle people this week too.  She says "tickle tickle" when she does it.  That is pretty cute.

Yesterday Kylie went to her first Ranger game too.

May 4, 2000
Kylie had another party at our house last week.  Aunt Melanie sent us her pictures.  You can find them over here.

April 24 2000
Kylie had a good weekend.  She had a party at Gammie's, breakfast at Papa's, and Easter Dinner with her great granddaddy.

We found out she easily gets a sugar rush from icing!  She had a blast at her party.  We are having another party here this weekend for family and friends here in Combine.

April 20, 2000 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Well...here we are.  Today is Kylie's first Birthday!  It seems amazing that we have had this little angel for a whole year.  She has grown so much, and developed into her own little person.  She continues to amaze me everyday, and that shows no signs of slowing.  Hopefully next week, I will have pictures of her first party!

Happy birthday Kylie!  I love you!

April 7, 2000
Kylie has strep throat.  She can't sleep, and isn't eating too well.  It is the saddest thing in the world to see her hurting and not be able to tell you where.

Steve sent me a picture of Kylie giving Angela a kiss.

April 3, 2000
This weekend was cousin David's wedding.  Kylie had a blast.  She ran around all night during the reception.  She just walked around and danced all night.  We finally sent her to the room with Gammie, but she would have kept going all night if we let her.

I have some new Kylie pictures on the more photo's page.

Mar 29, 2000
Kylie has been learning to answer the phone.  She knows haw to turn the phone on, and if you push the ringer, she will hold it up to her ear and give you the surprised look.

She also figured out how to turn on my cell phone, Gammie's phone, and just about any other phone she gets her hands on.  If you turn it off, she will turn it right back on.  If you try and fake her out, and act like you are turning it off, she will turn it off herself, but then immediately figures you out, and then turns it right back on.

Mar 27, 2000
Kylie spent Saturday with me.  We didn't do much, but we did find out she likes to ride the lawnmower.  I took her for a ride around the neighborhood and she fell asleep.  It is amazing what she can sleep through sometimes, when at other times the slightest noise wakes her up.

Mar 25, 2000
Kylie is feeling a little better today.  She is starting to sleep better as well.  She is babbling more all the time.

Mar 22, 2000
Kylie has mastered the Daddy Dance.  Now she chants, "Daaa-dyyy daaa-dyyy" while she dances around.  Kevin taught me that dance when he used to teach it to his girls.

The doctor says she has a throat infection, two ear infections, and a slight respiratory infection.  I cannot believe she is playing and behaving so well...

I will be putting up new pictures as soon as I finish my move to the new server.

Mar 20, 2000
We have had some big events recently so updates have not been coming in as fast as normal.  Combined with the fact that I am changing servers, the updates may continue to be slow for a couple more weeks.

Trust me though, things with Kylie have not been slow.  She is walking really well, and she is getting fast!  She plays peek-a-boo all the time now.  She is able to copy some new faces, and has some new words.  She says "Uh-OOOO" now when she drops something.

She opens all the drawers and loves to play in the place settings we have in a kitchen drawer.

She has also mastered the art of un-folding clothes.  That one is particularly fun for all!

She is just now starting to dance when you tell her too.

She actually seemed a little sick this weekend and is going to the doctor today.

Feb 29, 2000
With Granny being sick, this has been a tough week for updates.  But Kylie did start walking finally.  She walks all over the place now.  She has also become more focused.  She will pay more attention to you when you play with her now.  She tries to copy all your faces.  Mostly she is just beautiful though.  She sure makes you feel good when she smiles at you.

Feb 21, 2000
We have had another visit from the Ear infection Fairy.  Kylie got sick this weekend when we went to Orange to see Granny in the hospital.  But luckily, Dr. Cal bailed us out with some quick after hours service!

Feb 16, 2000
Kylie has started taking a few steps now.  She will take a couple of shaky steps, and then decide to crawl...but she definitely thinks about walking before she takes off.  She hangs on to something, takes a small step, and then freezes like she is debating another step, or the crawl.  Shouldn't be long now!

Feb 14, 2000
Happy Valentine's Day.  I finally got a chance to add the new pictures of Kylie.  Here is a picture of her sitting in some flowers, one of her with a teddy bear, and one of her standing behind a wagon.

Feb 11, 2000
The funny moods continue.  It seems as if right when she starts getting sleepy is when the silly mood hits her.  She is going through her entire repertoire of facial expressions, noises, and dances.  She cracks herself up.  She is also starting to hop.  She squats down, and bounces forward.  I guess that looks easier than walking to her.  She is still standing up a bunch now, but still no real attempt at walking unless you stand in front of her and coax her into it.  We have new pictures that we took in a studio a couple of weeks ago, and I will scan them this weekend.

Feb 8, 2000
Kylie was in a funny mood last night.  She was really sleepy, but she would just bolt up all of the sudden and make faces, or give you a hug, and then she'd crash again.  She would stay down for a few seconds, then jump up and do it again.  She was being really sweet too.  She wants to hug your neck now when she gives kisses.

Feb 3, 2000
You can tell Kylie is understanding things much better now.  She used to laugh when you played peek-a-boo with her.  Now, she will really play.  She will cover her eyes when you say "Where is Kylie?"  Then she yanks her arms down and laughs.  Last night, she would cover Brads face with a pillow, and then move it real fast and laugh.  Then she would cover him, and do it again.  It is neat watching her figure things out.

Feb 2, 2000
Ok...I added some pictures.  I got her fish face,  her surprised face, a bathtub shot, one of eating a toy, and a couple of Christmas Pictures.  The ones not linked right here are on the More Photos page.

Feb 2, 2000
I am finally scanning new pictures.  Some are all the way back to Christmas.  To be honest, I had so many rolls of pictures, I forgot which ones had been dropped off.  Anyway, they are coming today.  I will put the newest pictures at the top of the More Photos page from now on.

I did not have the camera ready last night, but I wish I had.  She was eating rice and gravy...sort of.  Some of it went in her mouth, but most was used as makeup.

Jan 31, 2000
Now she can stand as long as she wants.  I guess it won't be long until she is taking steps.  She is awful proud of herself when she does it.  She can even stand up and hold her toys now.  I caught her standing up and playing with one of her stuffed animals.  So at least now she is not wobbling and concentrating on the standing!

Jan 29, 2000
She is still working on the standing.  She can stand for about thirty seconds now.  She just doesn't know what to do after that.  She is really getting better at it.

Jan 27, 2000
Kylie stood up for about ten seconds by herself tonight!  It was awesome.  Luckily, I had my VCR camera sitting nearby, and I caught it.  For the rest of the night, she would stand for a few seconds, but she would get so excited when we clapped for her, she would sit down and laugh.

Jan 24, 2000
Kylie is still sleeping really well.  She has been in such a great mood this week.  She has been copying people when they make faces.  She will involver herself in more complex games now too.

She had her first order of fries this weekend.  She will eat them, but she doesn't like the way it feels to pick it up.  She would pick it up, and then drop it and stare at her fingers, but if you held one, she would eat it up.

Jan 21, 2000
I am still waiting on the most recent pictures.  I think I have one of her funny "Ooooo" face.  She is doing that more and more.  It is almost like a big "surprised" look.  It is really cute.  She also looks like she will just start walking any minute.  Sometimes she just sort of leans on the coffee table instead of holding it.  Then when she decides to go somewhere else, she hesitates like she is debating crawling, or taking a step.  I can't wait.

She is sleeping MUCH more now too.  I do not know if it is just because she is having a growth spurt or if it is because she isn't cutting any teeth right now.

Jan 18, 2000
Kylie is still working on new facial expressions.  She has been working on whistling lately too.  This weekend she went to baseball practice with me, and she figured out how to honk the horn in my truck.  She was loving that.  She is also starting to laugh at herself.  She knows when she is making people laugh, and then she will crack herself up.

Jan 13, 2000
This morning Kylie stood up for a few seconds!  She was holding onto the side of the bathtub, and then just turned around and was standing.  That was SO neat.  She is giving kisses now too.  I love that.  She has been waving bye-bye for a few days, but now she is using her wrist instead of just waving her whole arm.  Her personality gets so much more complex each day it seems.  The way she interacts with people in more complex ways each day too.

Jan 6, 2000
Last night Kylie started whistling.  She would just repeat you if you did it with her.  Then she would do her "Oooooh" trick.  It was really funny.  She was making funny faces and then she would just laugh and laugh.  She was having fun entertaining everyone.  She thinks she is real funny.  She will have a whole conversation with you making noises now.

Jan 5, 2000
I have to congratulate my buddy Keith on becoming a Daddy himself this week.  Emily MacKay Haas was born this week.  She was 8lbs even, and 19.5 inches long!  Congrats Keith!

Kylie is getting faster.  She still crawls like a monkey, but she can really move like that.  She has never really crawled like most babies.  Instead of crawling on her knees, she uses her hands and feet.  Whatever?  It works for her.  And by the way, she is beautiful!

Jan 1, 2000
I have been on vacation for the last couple of weeks, so I haven't really updated things.  Kylie is feeling 100% better now.  She is playing like crazy.  She is learning to climb, and she is going from the side of the coffee table to the couch now with no help.  She LOVES pulling up on everything.  She thinks everything in the world that she can pick up is supposed to go in her mouth...including crickets, dirt etc.

She is developing lots of new facial expressions, and says DADADADADA all the time now.  She has learned to make the fish face, and the surprised look where she says, "Oooooh."  That is cool.

She is still too little to really enjoy Christmas other than the fact that she gets attention from people the whole time, and that she can play with all sorts of paper.  But she does seem to like her toys.  She especially likes the ones that make noise.  Goodie...

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a great New Year.

Dec 21, 1999
Kylie seems to feel better today.  She is smiling more.  You can tell she still feels a little bad because she stays pretty still.  When she is not sick, she NEVER sits still.  Anyway, the ear drops seem to help her.

Dec 20, 1999
Kylie felt really badly last night.  She went to the doctor today, and we found out she has two bad ear infections, and pneumonia.  These ear infections are getting old, but it is just something you have to deal with I suppose.  It seems like everyone I know with a little one is dealing with them.  Man, what did we do when we were babies?  Anyway, she is amazingly well behaved when you consider how bad she must feel.  You can tell she is real achy now.  Hopefully, the ear drops will make her feel better.  I hate for her to feel so bad on her first Christmas...

Dec 16, 1999
She learned to open drawers last night.  She pulls herself using the drawers in the kitchen, and then opens the one below her.  It is pretty funny, but I am sure she is not far from shutting one on her finger.

I also found out she would rather play with the box than the toy.  I figured that one out when doing the Christmas tree this week.

Dec 14, 1999
Kylie is getting real good standing up now.   She can move around by holding on to the couch or coffee table now.  She is also to the point now where she gets upset for anyone to leave the room.  She is more playful than ever these days.   Instead of just grabbing at things now, she points at them.   She uses her fingers more now.   She used to just user her hands.

Dec 7, 1999
I was out of town for a few days, so Aunt Melanie came and watched Kylie.  Hopefully she was as good as Mel said she was.  Kylie is crawling better each day.  She is getting fast!  I also just added some new Christmas Pictures that were taken at Gammie's house, so take a look at those if you get a chance.

Dec 1, 1999
New trick of the week: Kylie has learned to throw her Binky across the room, and then go get it.  She seems to enjoy that quite a bit.   She also plays a little peek-a-boo game.  I think that is really neat.  I cannot believe she figured it out.   But she will hide her eyes with her hands when you say, "Where is Kylie?"  Then she will move them and laugh...I think it is cool.   She has been in a really great mood this week.  I think it is because she is ready for Daddy's birthday!

Nov 24, 1999
We are getting ready to go to Orange for the holiday.   Kylie is doing pretty well today.   She had fever yesterday so I stayed home with her.   She has mastered sitting up.  And she is getting pretty good at pulling herself to her feet now too.   I guess it won't be long before we have to chase her around the house.   We got her a little bottle with handles on it, so she can hold it herself!   That is going to be NICE!

Nov 21, 1999
Kylie is sitting up all by herself now!   She also started pulling herself up last night and standing.  That was great to watch.  She advances so fast now, it is almost hard to imagine.   Her expressions get so much more colorful all the time.   Her responses to your actions are more interesting now as well.

Nov 17, 1999
Kylie is crawling better now.   She is also starting to come close to sitting up by herself.   She has red knees from scooting around all day!   She is developing new noises and new facial expressions each day it seems.

Nov 14, 1999
We had a scare last night.  Kylie was choking.  We finally pulled a leaf out of her mouth.  That was the scariest thing I think I have ever seen.  It freaked me out pretty good.  Anyway, she was fine, but it was still scary.  I am out of space here on the web site for more pictures, so I am going to start getting rid of the really old ones as I get new ones.

Nov 11, 1999
Kylie is so fun to watch.  She is getting more interested in the things around her.  She studies everything now.  She is also starting to make more sense with her noises.  She is starting to be able to use her voice to indicate certain things.  And she is really starting to laugh louder.  She will play peek-a-boo or games like that with you for as long as you are willing to keep it up now.

Nov 9, 1999
We finally got back the Halloween pictures, so go check them out on Kylies Page.  Kylie has perfected the "sleepy dance."   She still fights going to sleep, but she is not too good at it.  You can tell when she is fixing to just hit the sack!  The other night, she was going nuts playing and making her noises, and then just CRASHED on my shoulder.  It was pretty funny. She has also developed several new noises.  Basically they are all the same noise with different faces to go with them.  Very cool.

Nov 5, 1999
Kylie went to the doctor Friday, and we found out she has her ear infection back.  This time it is in both ears.  It is amazing to me that she is in such a good mood all the time with two ear infections.  But she is still as happy as can be!  She is babbling all the time now.  She is getting more and more vocal.  She is eating baby cookies now too.   She loves those.

Oct 31, 1999
Kylie was a Bunny Rabbit for Halloween.   I will have those pictures soon.  She was so cute!  When we took her trick-or-treating, she was really good.  She was just sitting there amazed at all the other kids I think.  And we discovered she LOVES suckers!  She will get mad if you take it from her...

Oct 26, 1999
Kylie also has a new trick.  She now does some kind of noise while breathing in.  It sounds like she is grunting sort of.  It is kind of a long inhale while making noise.  It is funny.   She is humming now too.   She does that when she gets sleepy.

Oct 24, 1999
Kylie is blowing bubbles now.  I am not sure if it makes her teeth feel better or what, but she can really get going now.  She also is starting to play a little more.   She will peek around things to find you if you hide from her now.  That is really cute.  Her top teeth are coming in really good now.

Oct 21, 1999
I had to go out of town again, so I have been missing Kylie pretty badly.   Her top teeth are still giving her trouble.  She has a walker now, and she seems to LOVE that.   She always wants to be standing.  Her hair is getting thicker too.  I should have new pictures on the page soon.  You will have to check them out.

Oct 11, 1999
Wow...it has been a LONG time since I updated here.   Moving into the new house, and the Microsoft Exchange Conference last week have kept me pretty busy.  Anyway, we are finally in the new place!

Let's see...Kylie has gotten much more mobile.   Her crawling is getting better.  She can scoot now.   You have to keep a close eye on her now because she can really move when she sets her mind to it.   She is laughing really well now.  When Bradley laughs at her, she just laughs right back.

She is also working on her two top teeth now.   Man...I hope they quit drooling when those things come in!

She had a little rash this week, and come to find out it was a little virus.   But the Doc fixed us all up, and she is getting much better.

Now that she has her own room, we bought one of those little monitors.  So she slept at the other end of the house last night. That was scary.   I woke up about every twenty minutes to listen to the monitor.   Then I walked down there anyway... I am sure I will get better.

Sept 19, 1999
Kylie had a busy weekend.  We took her to the Combine Cotton Festival and found out she loves snow-cones.  Then she ate some baby food last night.   She loved it.  It was chicken noodle.   So far that has been her favorite.   She goes to the doctor today for her checkup.

She also was giving kisses last night, and laughing a bunch.

Sept 15, 1999
Kylie said "DA-DA" twice last night!  Of course she was just repeating after me, but it was still cool.  If you get her going, and you repeat after her for about 10 minutes solid, she will try to repeat you.  She is getting better at it.  Her two bottom teeth are all the way out, so maybe it will quit hurting so much.

We just got back from Cancun last night, and Kylie is even cuter.  Her two bottom teeth are growing so fast.  It is amazing how much different they are after just three days.  They really do not seem to make her feel that badly.  It looks like it would hurt alot.  She gets so much better with her hands each day.  That is pretty cool to watch.   She actually reaches directly for something now, and can pick things up by herself.

Kylie seems to be much better after this last round of medicine.  She isn't grabbing at her ears anymore.  She also discovered her toes this weekend.  She will sit up in your lap and just check her toes out.   She will reach down and pop one in her mouth every once in a while.  She is getting much better with her crawling too.  She can get from point A to B really well now.   She can entertain herself with a toy for a little longer now too.

Now that Kylie has learned to roll over easily, that is all she wants to do.  She just rolls and rolls.   It is pretty funny.   When she figures something out, she runs with it.   It is like her trick of the day.

August 31, 1999
Kylie crawled last night for the first time!  She bows up her feet and arms so she is just balancing on her tummy.  Then she can put one am down and spin.   So she can turn around.  Last night, she was doing her balancing thing, and she pulled her knees up and she was able to push herself forward!   It was pretty cute.  She is learning really fast now.   She is really good at putting her own Binky in her mouth now.   And her little teeth are coming through now, so she is hurting a little.  She puts just about everything in her mouth now.

August 26, 1999
Kylie is getting better with her hands.  She is able to grab and play with things pretty well now.   She can also now put her Binky in her mouth all by herself.   She takes a while, but she can get it!  Her communication skills are getting better too.  She is able to sit up by herself for about thirty seconds now.  Also, her two little bottom teeth are coming in, so she is a little uncomfortable.

Kylie went to the doctor again today.  She still has her ear infection.  She is 23 inches long now, and she weighs 13.11 lbs.  She also got three more shots today, and those made her pretty mad.

August 18, 1999
Kylie has moved on from just squealing.  A couple of days ago, she started ending her squeals with a growl.  Now she just growls alot.  It is funny.  It makes her laugh too.  She also has begun to belly laugh even more.  That is the coolest!

August 10, 1999
It looks like Kylie is right-handed.  She is pumping her right arm.  I am not sure what it is in response to yet, but she does it alot.  She also will pull herself up to her feet if you hold her hands above her head now.  It is actually pretty funny.   She laughs a bunch when she does it.   She can hold herself up there for a long time.  Then she will sit back down and rest...then do it again.

Kylie is feeling better, but still running a little fever.  She made a new discovery this weekend.  She has discovered her voice!  She was making noises pretty well, but this weekend she learned "projection."  Now she is screaming and squealing.  It is very entertaining to her.   Now, if she is awake, she is amusing herself with her new found ability to yell.  It is cute...for the first 10 minutes.

Kylie still has an ear infection.  I took her to the doctor yesterday.  When I was in Mexico this week, she was not sleeping too well.  She sounds like her chest is congested, but the doctor says it is just the sinus stuff.  So, she is taking some antibiotics and hopefully she will be feeling better soon!

She is also making much more noise now.  She likes to talk and talk.  I think whatever she is saying must be real funny in baby talk because she cracks herself up!

Kylie has a new found fascination with her hands.  She is starting to prefer her hands to her Binky.  She is also learned to yell.  Yeehaw!?  She will just let out a yell every once in a while and amuse herself.   She seems to think that is pretty funny.  She also is starting to reach for things and hold on to objects a little better.  Recently, if you put her in front of a mirror, she will giggle and smile at herself.

She went to my class reunion with me this weekend, and she got tons of attention.  She got passed around and held by lots of people.  And she loves that.  She knows she is cute!  She also got to spend the night with the grandparents, and there is CERTAINLY lots of attention passed out there as well.

Today Kylie turns 3 months old!  She is growing so fast.  I was out of town all of last week, and Kylie had an ear infection.  She is much better now, and has a had a really good few days.  We changed her formula again, and she is doing much better now.  It is amazing how much babies react to that stuff.  She holds this stuff down much better, and seems to feel quite a bit better each day.  She is eating more than she used to.  I hope she doesn't start eating like me!

July 6, 1999
Kylie went to the lake this weekend for the Fourth of July.  There were plenty of other babies there, so there was lots of attention to spread around.  She also switched formulas this weekend to see if it will make her feel any better.  She seems to have much less trouble with the new stuff.  She doesn't seem to be as uncomfortable, but she spits it up more.

She is starting to stare at her hands more now, and it looks like she is able to grab for things with a little more skill.   She is also smiling MUCH more now.

I was on the road again this week, and again she seemed to grow a ton.  I am amazed at how much her hands change each time I am gone.  She is getting so big.  She is going to the lake this weekend for the Fourth of July.  This will be her second trip down there.   Uncle Chad is going with us this weekend, so maybe we can try to get him to change a diaper!

I took Kylie to the doctor today for her two-month checkup.  She was 22.5 inches long.  She weighed 11lbs. 2oz.  She is bigger than 75% of girls her age.  She had to get four shots, and she did not like them.  The first two sort of startled her.  She was smiling real big at first, then when she got the first shot, she looked all surprised...then the second she looked pissed.  When she got the third she started crying, and on the last one she came unglued.  She screamed for about ten minutes. It made it almost impossible to get her dressed and out the door because she would only quit crying if I held her real tight.  Anyway...that was an experience for me!

We took Kylie to the movies Friday night.  She was really good.  She went to sleep as soon as the movie started, and slept through the whole thing.  She started snoring about half way through.  It was pretty cute.  We sat right up front, and it was pretty loud, but it did not bother her.  Maybe we were just lucky.

Today, I take her to the doctor for her two month checkup.  So I will have all the weight info tomorrow!  She has still been having a few tough nights lately.  She seems like she has an upset stomach, so hopefully I will find out something about that too.

June 25, 1999
When I got home last night, I was amazed that Kylie seemed to have grown a foot!  She grows like a weed.  After only ONE day away, I could tell she had changed.  Her little hands are getting bigger and she is grabbing at things now.   She is also working harder to make noises.  I also think she is getting prettier all the time.

Uncle Ben is coming into town tonight to see the new house and Kylie.  I can't wait to show her off.  She has changed a BUNCH since Ben saw her last.   It has been a few weeks since he saw her.

June 24, 1999
I have been out of town for the past few days, so I haven't seen Kylie yet.   I can't wait to get home.  Working out of town is not too bad when things are busy, but as soon as there is any down-time, all I can think about is seeing her.  But the sleep is good!

June 22, 1999
Kylie was feeling better last night, and she was playful.  She was making little noises and when I repeat them, she starts smiling, and making them back at me.  It is like a primitive conversation.  I think she was saying how cool and good looking her Daddy is.  Or maybe she was just saying, "My diaper is dirty again dude...are you just going to sit there making stupid sounds?"   It was one of those.

It looks like Kylie may go to her first movie this week.  I think we are going with Steve and Amy, some friends from college to see "Big Daddy."   I am pretty sure Kylie will think Adam Sandler is as funny as I do.

June 21, 1999
Kylie has not been feeling well, and having a tough time sleeping the last couple of days.   Now when you play with her, she smiles, and sometimes lets out a giggle.  That is the greatest.  She rolls over with ease now, and she has found a new ability to make noises.  She used to grunt and coo a bunch, but it has now become a controlled noise.  She seems to enjoy her ability to make a sound.  It looks like she is starting to amuse herself.

We bought her a new seat that vibrates, and that was a winner.  She is doing well in that thing.  She can handle that for longer than her swing.  She can hang out in the swing for about ten minutes before she decides to bail on that.   She will let you know right away when that is boring her!

June 20, 1999
As of today, Father's Day, Kylie is 2 months old!  Boy, things sure change fast with one this little.  She is so amazing.  She is not saying her ABC's yet, but I think she is trying!

May 23, 1999
So far, Kylie has been smiling a bunch...but now she is doing it in response to people.   It melts your heart when she just gives you a huge grin when you talk to her.
